Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.
I work with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and addictions. As a woman of color, I also strive to help clients process trauma around immigration, acculturation, and systemic oppression. Many clients I've worked with seek support in identity exploration. They are looking to better understand themselves and work on a deeper level of introspection.

I believe that when someone seeks a clinical relationship, finding a safe and supportive environment for personal growth is absolutely essential. As a therapist, my primary goal is to create a nurturing space—a holding environment—where meaningful change can occur. This space allows individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment, fostering the trust needed for deep healing and growth.

I do my best work with clients who are open-minded and motivated to actively engage in therapy to improve their lives. Whether they’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stressful life transitions, relationship difficulties, or other challenges, they seek a deeper connection to themselves to navigate a world that can often feel confusing and unjust. They understand that mental health goes far beyond the mind, recognizing the connection between the mind, body, and even the spirit.

I love working with clients who are navigating issues of self-love and radical self-acceptance. Whether the turmoil is coming from family, social media, world news, or current lifestyles, wanting to obtain a balance is the first place to start! I want my clients to feel safe and get the unconditional respect they deserve, especially from themselves. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety and depression and are trying to find their place in the world.

I hope to serve those seeking to strengthen their connection with themselves and those around them by empowering their authentic identity. The stressors of everyday life can become overwhelming with the uncertainty of tomorrow. We quickly become filled with anxiety when feeling unprepared for these uncertainties. With our bodies designed for survival, symptoms of anxiety become easily integrated into our daily life, creating the cognitive distortion that life is bleak and unfulfilling.

I have always felt my purpose in life was to help others. My ideal clients are actively seeking change in their lives to improve their well-being. Their goals should involve personal growth, setting/changing boundaries to improve their interpersonal relationships, understanding and learning skills to cope with family dynamics, and practicing skills to reduce the intensity or prevalence of symptoms resulting from mental distress.

I work with individuals who are tired of feeling like life is happening to them and wants to take the reins. They may be struggling with stress, lack of confidence, relationships, anxiety, motivation, personal identity, or difficult life transitions. They are seeking security, confidence, and happiness and want to reach their fullest potential. They are willing to dig deep into self-reflection and want to learn skills to self-soothe, think more positively, and communicate better with others.

I enjoy working with clients who want to reflect on relationship patterns starting from early development to present day that have led to a less confident core sense of self. They often feel their emotions are overwhelming or get in the way of relationships. Relationships really matter to my clients, but they find they are extremely challenging to navigate. My clients often hold identities of unworthiness, expectations of failure, demands for perfect performance, and ongoing acute shame.

My knowledge of early life development and the impact of relationship dynamics gives me great insight into working with children, families, and parents. I am open to working with all people who are interested in examining the influence and connection of early life experiences to current thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. My clients want to learn how to work with their nervous systems, identify and learn to feel emotions, develop skills for working with emotions, and communicate effectively.
