Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFTLife can be overwhelming, especially when you feel stuck or disconnected. Many of my clients often struggle in relationships, navigating life transitions, or painful past memories.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic, scary or dangerous event. PTSD can be caused by either witnessing or experiencing the trauma. Events that sometimes trigger PTSD include everything from sexual assault, war, and violence, to car accidents or other incidents that could cause loss of life. It is not at all uncommon for people who go through something traumatic to have temporary difficulty coping and acute symptoms, but with time, they usually get better. However, if the symptoms last longer than a month, get worse rather than better and affect your ability to function, you may be suffering from PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD may include severe anxiety, anger, nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks to the event, frightening thoughts, avoidance of situations or places, feeling on edge and/or being easily startled. If you think you may be experiencing PTSD, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s specialists today to get help.

I enjoy working with clients who want to find new ways to navigate life’s challenges as well as their mental health symptoms. They may be struggling with symptoms of depression and/or anxiety, trauma processing and triggers, interpersonal relationships, or addiction behaviors such as excessive spending, eating, or holding on to items that are affecting their well-being. Clients may want to identify patterns that are holding them back from the life they want.

Walking through life in an increasingly challenging world can leave us feeling out of touch with ourselves, bending to who we think we “should” be, and unsure of who we want to be. I work with my clients to help them embrace their natural curiosity, explore the patterns/behaviors that feel incongruous with their values, challenge the negative self-talk that holds them back, and help them to engage more fully in the joy that life can hold.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

Taking the first step towards your journey of healing can be a difficult decision to make. Opening the path to what has brought us deep suffering can be scary and at the same time, exactly what we need in order to begin to build a life grounded on what is important to us. It is easy to lose sight of of these things when we spend our time trying our hardest to get rid of or avoid our pain. My hope is that I am able to guide you on this journey to find a clearer path.
