About My Clients
My ideal client is one who wants to dive into all the ways their physical symptoms are affecting their emotional and mental health. I love helping clients build up their toolbox and feel empowered to advocate for themselves, and control the pieces of their illness that they can. I also appreciate clients who have a sense of humor, even if its dark! I see clients ages 5 through adulthood, and enjoy the wide variety of ages and diagnoses I get to sit with.
My Background and Approach
I am a social worker for the last 14 years, but before that, I was a special education teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. I switched careers after 3 years, went to graduate school, and got my first job at Evanston Hospital in oncology where I had done my internship. Soon I learned that oncology was a bit too heavy for me, and quickly opened my private practice on the side to focus on chronic illness patients. Since 2010, I have used various modalities like mindfulness, hypnosis, CBT, and ACT to help patients navigate life in the world of illness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a very open-minded and accepting person, and approach my work with empathy, compassion, and curiosity. I aim to provide a sacred, safe space for each person who meets with me, to work on the goals we set together. I feel incredibly lucky to get to have this career and use my experience as both a patient and professional to help my clients.
