About My Clients
I like to work with adults who are established in their lives. Meaning, they have a sense of themselves and are also looking to better understand who they are and how they want to be in the world. My role is to help guide clients through their self-exploration and provide tools and resources as well as support. I offer mental coaching for TG/GD and cis-female athletes and exercisers. Mental coaching is a way to improve athletic performance and meet fitness goals using evidence-based techniques.
My Background and Approach
Therapy process starts with the part of the iceberg we can see above the water. In the initial stages, it is important that I provided tools and resources to better cope with the symptoms you may be experiencing. Symptoms such as worry thoughts, depression, sleep issues, body image, substance use, etc. Once there are more established means of coping with these symptoms, we can "go underwater" to try and better understand what has prompted these symptoms to occur and continue. I have over 10 years experience in the field and love the ever-changing landscape of mental health. Our sessions will be centered around your agenda (sometime's mine if needed) and a time for you to be yourself. For mental coaching: we will identify what your exercise or sport related goals are and what your brain might be doing to interfere with those! You will be tasked with assignments and mental exercises to help improve your physical performance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work hard to keep the whole person in perspective when working with my clients. Intersectionality in their lives is an essential part of understanding who a person is and how they came to my office. As a cisgender white person, I have many privileges. These are intersected with being female identified and a member of the LGTBQIA+ community, where I do not always have privileges. I take my own process into consideration when working with clients and continue working to be a better anti-racist ally and trans/gender diverse ally. We do not live in a stagnant world; therefore, I must be fluid in my growth in order to be a better clinician and human.
