About My Clients
My practice is an affirming space for those who feel disconnected from their emotions, their bodies, or their sense of self. I specialize in working with: ✔ Black women who are living with depression and/or unlearning the “Strong Black Woman” trope and seeking softness, self-compassion, and emotional liberation ✔ Those healing from trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress who need more than just talk therapy ✔ Anyone interested in somatic, creative, and movement-based approaches to therapy
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) with a specialty in Dance/Movement Therapy, EMDR, DBT, CPT, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). With over a decade of experience, I have helped clients reconnect with their bodies, navigate complex emotions, and heal from the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. My work integrates movement, expressive arts, and somatic practices to support emotional regulation, self-expression, and overall well-being. I understand that traditional talk therapy isn’t always enough, especially for those who feel disconnected from their emotions or struggle to verbalize their experiences. This is why I incorporate body-based and creative interventions, helping clients move through what feels stuck while fostering resilience and self-compassion. My background includes working with adults, particularly those from communities that have been marginalized.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing should be accessible, affirming, and inclusive. As a Black woman therapist, I recognize the unique burdens and systemic challenges that many of my clients face, and I approach therapy with a liberation-focused lens. I am deeply committed to mental health advocacy, body liberation, and creating spaces where people, especially Black women and femmes, can exist without performance or pretense. I support Health at Every Size (HAES), body neutrality, and trauma-informed, culturally competent care. My work is influenced by Liberation Psychology, honoring the historical, social, and generational factors that shape our emotional experiences. Outside of therapy, I am a writer, educator, and creative. I’ve developed resources that help individuals build self-awareness and emotional resilience, and I continuously seek ways to integrate art, movement, and somatic practices into mental health care.
