About My Clients
Have you or your child experienced a loss or traumatic event? Whether it’s an accident, the death of someone close to you, a diagnosis, or a divorce, life as you know it has changed. Now you’re overwhelmed by intense emotions and uncertainty as you try your best to keep up with everyday life. Sure, you know your loved ones mean well - but since their support mostly falls flat, you’ve started just saying you’re fine. But this brave face is getting exhausting.
My Background and Approach
Imagine actually meaning it when you tell people you're doing well. Feeling like yourself again is possible, and I can help you get there. Together, we'll process your story, practice tools to cope with difficult emotions, and help you navigate your relationships. We will work collaboratively and explore what comes next, and how to rebuild a meaningful life. My approach to counseling is compassionate and nonjudgmental. If you want someone who will really sit in it with you, (gently) challenge you, and occasionally make you laugh, then we may be a great fit for each other. Please send me a message here or visit my website to schedule a complementary 15-minute consultation call.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a social justice oriented therapist who believes in the inherent dignity and worth of people from all walks of life. I believe many mental health concerns arise because of lack of social support (ex: systemic racism, sexism, weight stigma, societal misunderstandings of grief, lack of affirming care for LGTBQIA+ individuals) and unequal access to resources. Anxiety, stress, and depression are rational, normal responses to repeated discrimination, microaggressions, and struggles to meet basic needs. I have several years of experience working in aging and end of life care, and am passionate about sharing what I've learned about resources, options for long-term care, and end of life planning. I am an advocate for reproductive justice and trans rights. On a lighter note, I listen to the same bands I did when I was 13 (I LOVE pop punk), iced coffee is wonderful but hot coffee is wonderful-er, and my permanent rewatch show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
