About My Clients
My ideal client finds themselves always striving to be perfect, yet feeling like others are disappointed in you or nothing is done right. You experience anxiety whether everyday or infrequent that keeps you from accomplishing your goals. You have experienced trauma in childhood from immature parents and found that you needed to be older than you were too soon. You are not alone and you deserve to take care of yourself to.
My Approach to Helping
As an art therapist, I encourage and invite your creative parts to express themselves using a variety of materials (paint, clay, mixed media, collage, and more). By brining art into the space, we are able to take a break from talking through your concerns and explore them from a different perspective. I use techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic therapy, Somatic therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help you break away from your people-pleasing, anxious and perfectionism patterns and heal from trauma. We approach your concerns from a curious stance, working to get to know your parts and the function they play within your system. We take the time to learn how these behavior have protected you in the past and present. You’ll learn how to set boundaries, have healthy relationships, be assertive and gain back your sense of power and breakaway from passive behaviors.
Why I am a Good Fit for You
I am a good fit for you if you are looking for a therapist who "get's it" and can relate to your experiences of being anxious or a people-pleaser or even a perfectionist. As a therapist who also has worked on their anxiety in therapy, I know what it can feel like be trying many things and not finding relief. My approach is rooted in curiosity, compassion and creativity. I believe we need to honor what is showing-up in your body and work toward accepting your emotions, thoughts and experiences vs the idea that you need to be "fixed".
