About My Clients
Have you been through a lot, yet struggle each day? You feel overwhelmed, stuck, and that life has derailed from what it once was or what you want it to be. Trauma profoundly changes all aspects of life, altering your worldview, relationships, ability to trust yourself/others, and sense of self. You want to reclaim your life, heal from the past rather than relive it, and are curious about somatic therapy. Whether you are here because of a single or multiple event(s), I am here to support you.
My Approach to Helping
I am a somatic trauma therapist specializing in sexual assault and complex/developmental trauma, and their associated symptoms (e.g. depression, anxiety, dissociation, self-doubt). What's all that mean? In a nutshell, I invite you to tune into the wisdom of the mental and physical to move and resolve trauma from the body. I offer a warm, grounding, engaged, and compassionate presence. Therapy generally moves in a loosely structured way that incorporates your therapy goals, addressing present moment needs and perhaps exploring how the past continues to find its way to the current moment. By working somatically, we can address, process, and integrate the trauma so it truly is a memory of the past.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You have the ability to heal following the profound effects of trauma. You're here now because you formed miraculous ways of surviving. What helped you before might not be as helpful now. I can support you in coming home to your self, your body, and live more peacefully with more choice in how you go about your day. As a first-generation Asian-American, I understand shared experiences of alienation, shame, hypervigilance, loneliness, and marginalization. Other things I love to do (besides being a therapist): being outside with nature, hiking with my dog and kid, cooking, reading, and watching movies (anime, dark comedy, documentaries). I look forward to hearing from you and starting together on your healing journey.
