About My Clients
I welcome a racially and demographically diverse clientele of adults, including members of the LGBTQ community, for individual psychotherapy. I have been working with people struggling with abuse, worry, low mood, family strife, sleep disturbances, and life transition stress for over 15 years. My clients want better lives for themselves, to live comfortably and freely day to day. I work often with clients with trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and ADHD.
My Background and Approach
My clients describe me as both professional and comedic. I believe in the Patch Adams school of thought that laughter is medicine and is a way to create a therapeutic alliance that helps you reach your goals. Sessions with me use a classic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy structure, including emotional check ins, grounding exercises, insight development, and skill building. I also do Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills building often in my sessions. But I also try to add positivity, levity, and humor throughout. My sessions can be as flexible with clients as they need them to be, and the pace of therapy can be whatever is most comfortable for the client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone needs help sometimes. We can't do this alone. These beliefs guide my practice as a therapist and are the fuel for my drive to help others. I've seen what trauma, depression, anxiety, family and relationship discord, and life transition stress can do to people, and I've honed my practice in coaching people to manage them. I hope to help you as well. As for my personal interests, I enjoy a wide array of TV shows, movies, and video games, and enjoy traveling. I'm curious by nature and love to continuously read new scientific research on human and animal behavior.
