Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder that is typically characterized by a lack of impulse control, an inability to focus and pay attention, and hyperactivity. ADHD most commonly emerges in children and teens and can continue into adulthood. In fact, ADHD is the most common mental health disorder diagnosed in young people and sufferers often have trouble paying attention in school. ADHD must be diagnosed by a qualified clinician. In addition to medical interventions, seeing a mental health practitioner who specializes in the treatment of ADHD can help patients and their families better cope with many of the symptoms. I firmly believe that every one of us is born with inherent worth, strengths, and gifts. Sometimes what happens to us on life’s journey interferes with our ability to see those. Sometimes our self-worth seems elusive or lacking altogether. I have a passion for helping clients reclaim that self-worth and capitalize on those valuable strengths and gifts. Whether you have been struggling with addictions, compulsive behaviors, codependency, anxiety, depression, or more, I would be honored to help.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My ideal client would be someone who is willing to give therapy a chance. To explore various aspects of their life, who they are, and who they are wanting to become. My idea caseload would consist of a variety of issues, so as long as the client is wanting to be an active agent in their therapy then they would be my ideal. Their goals would consist of wanting to feel congruent with with their beliefs and how they are living their life.
Maybe you're not sure if therapy is right for you, but are curious or maybe you just want the anxiety to go a way. You maybe feeling overwhelmed at the moment. It can be hard to know what you want or what you need when you have so much going on. Holistic practices and emotion regulation tools can reduce these anxious thoughts and feelings. I help young people (ages 6-30) understand their strengths and challenges, discover healthy ways to manage fears and frustration, and accept support. Many lack important skills to manage demands of school, relationships, and life events, leaving them "stuck" in patterns of avoidance and resistance that can be confusing to others. Through our work and collaboration with families and other care providers, my patients often report improved self-esteem, self-awareness, and social interactions.
