About My Clients
My passion is helping military families, combat veterans, spouses and couples. With my personal background and experiences with combat trauma, I became a therapist to keep other spouses from going through what I did and helping them to cope with PTSD/TBI before it gets out of control.
My Background and Approach
My background as a Military Spouse consists of 12 years and three combat tours with my husband. We were stationed in 29 Palms and Camp Pendleton, and he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I understand the stressors the military life brings and can relate to the hardships they experience. I work from a Solution-Focused viewpoint when working with couples to help them focus on the present and future. Change is rampant in the military, so it is often difficult to go backwards to fix something. Structural Family Therapy is also important to implement as it helps the families identify familial roles and establish boundaries so there is a proper hierarchy within the family system. Combat veterans often get stuck in their way of thinking, so CPT is often used to help with overcoming triggers and stuck points that are keeping them from moving forward and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Communication is the key to a successful relationship. It is ever changing and important that we know how to listen and understand one another. I work with my clients on communication as that is a key element to any relationship. My core values are honesty and trust. Everything ties back into those values and communication. I am straight-forward with clients and will push them to be successful in therapy.
