About My Clients
Are you a parent who has lost the relationship you want with your small (maybe not so small) human, feeling frustrated and maybe not so proud where things are? Or maybe you're a parent of an adolescent overwhelmed by the stress of everything and you just want your teen to be ok. Perhaps, you are here seeking better, more fulfilling relationships, due to not having any good models, coming out of a challenging relationship, or past trauma. I look forward to helping you with any of these concerns!
My Background and Approach
I work from an integrative perspective, helping you to become more self-compassionate, develop understanding of how your brain works, become more mindful, and more deeply understand attachment, all so you can harness this to create real change in how you feel and think--ultimately, what you do. If you're here as a parent, it probably seems impossible to you from where you are right now, but you can be the parent you want to. I have worked with partnered parents, as well as single-parents and can teach you skills (the same ones therapists use) you can use with your kiddo or teen! If your relationships feel empty, I can help you address loneliness and create the fulfilling, connected, and engaged relationships you deserve. I will help you understand attachment and your brain so you can build opportunities for connection across your life. Finally, if you're here as a teen or the parent of one, I can help you get through this challenging time successfully and feel less stressed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about advocacy and supporting diverse identities. I am collaborative and work hard to understand how our differences in identity and experience affect the work we do. In addition to working with diverse gender and sexual orientation identities, I support folks in diverse relationship structures. In counseling with me you will find affirmative therapy that helps you express and explore your entire identity. I am deeply committed to encouraging self-compassion. My students, clients, and supervisees would confirm this. We are all really just doing the best we can. Maybe you’re coming to counseling because that’s not working particularly well for you right now, and you want to try something new. We'll start there. Personally, I am a runner, an outdoor enthusiast-ok what even is that?-, a lover of delicious food, a traveler who would love to quit it all and see the world, someone who loves to laugh-we can laugh in therapy, trust me-, and just another human like you.
