About My Clients
They come from all walks of life. Many struggle with grief and loss--of a loved one, or of a cherished idea of how life was meant to be. Some feel at war with themselves; the survival strategies of the past--once so vital--no longer serve them, leading to depression, anxiety, and diminished relationships. They are in a bind: longing to connect but frightened, with good reason, of the vulnerability that makes connection possible. I help them move in the direction of growth and deeper connection.
My Background and Approach
I admire anyone coming to therapy, so I start from a place of respect and admiration, because I know it's not always easy to take that first step. I use an integrative approach tailored to each person’s needs. I have specialized trainings in grief, trauma, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and working with people in creative fields. With non-judgmental and compassionate curiosity, I act as a companion in the exploration of where you are now, how you got there, and where you would like to be in the future.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When we take steps to improve our well-being, we increase our capacity to give of ourselves in the support of others. When we learn to be kind to ourselves, only then can we truly be kind to others. When we have the courage to explore the complexity of our own humanity--and accept it--we are more able to see it and accept it in others. I'm motivated not only by the prospect of your own growth and healing, but also by my belief that, as we evolve, we free ourselves to contribute more to the well-being of our community. Change in the therapy office can lead to change in the world.
