About My Clients
My clients are typically women who are highly sensitive (often unaware of what this means) and feeling exhausted, frustrated, isolated, and anxious due to the emotional demands of motherhood. Whether you're figuring out how to manage day-to-day with a tiny human or navigating the tumultuous seas of parenting a teen, you are in the right place.
My Approach to Helping
As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Perinatal Mental Health specialist with over 20 years in the field (and 13+ years of motherhood under my belt), you can rest assured you're in good hands. My straightforward approach combines mindful awareness with realistic coping strategies to manage the unhelpful thoughts and feelings that are standing between you and emotional wellbeing. You'll not only feel seen, heard, and valued, but you'll leave each session with actionable steps that you can implement right away to increase your confidence, manage your stress, and face the challenges of motherhood with a healthy perspective.
My Values as a Therapist
I grew up in a small town in South Carolina and moved around quite a bit, from the Washington, DC, area to New York City to Richmond, VA, before settling down in beautiful Wake Forest, NC, where I now live with my husband, son, and dog. My worldview has been significantly influenced by exposure to other cultures, a liberal arts education, and the realization that people do not need religion in order to be kind, loving, and moral world citizens. I proudly support Planned Parenthood, Postpartum Support International, and Freedom From Religion Foundation, and I volunteer with Triangle Area Parenting Support (TAPS) and Recovering From Religion, where I've been a speaker for their RfRx series on different mental health topics. My passion for supporting mothers is rooted in my own struggle with postpartum anxiety after having my son.
