About My Clients
In my practice, I specialize in supporting individuals facing unique challenges due to their identities, drawing from my own experiences as a person of color and being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide a safe space for clients to explore concerns related to discrimination, societal pressures, trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship issues, empowering them to find healing and resilience.
My Background and Approach
At Safe Passage, I, Ricky Spain Jr., LCSW, offer a compassionate and inclusive approach to therapy. With diverse experience spanning residential, community mental health, and private practice settings since 2015, I bring expertise in trauma-informed care, relational/attachment-based therapy, and psychodynamic approaches. As a person of color and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I provide affirming support tailored to marginalized identities, empowering clients to explore their strengths, navigate challenges, and achieve greater self-acceptance and wellness. My commitment lies in creating a safe and collaborative space where each client feels valued and supported on their journey towards healing and growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I'm deeply committed to advocating for marginalized communities, including the LGBTQIA+ community, women, and people of color. I believe in creating a safe and affirming space for all individuals to explore their identities and experiences. I actively support movements such as Black Lives Matter and strive to contribute to social justice efforts in my community. Outside of my practice, I support organizations that promote mental health awareness and provide support to underserved populations. My goal is to foster a more inclusive and compassionate world where everyone feels valued and supported
