About My Clients
I work with people who find themselves at the bottom of their own lists. Who can intuit what others want and need but rarely get the same in return. They feel overwhelmed, under-supported, and unsure what to do next. In trying to control all the things, they instead feel out of control. They want relief but nothing has worked, and they are beginning to lose hope. First, we aim to alleviate unnecessary suffering. I like to help get some quick wins as we shift to underlying issues.
How I Can Help You
I like to use methods and approaches that I feel are effective + efficient. I will not do or suggest anything with you that I have not experienced myself. First and foremost, the top priority is establishing your sense of safety with me as well as the container for our sessions. My background is in social work, which means my goal is to meet you where you are. We are both human. I see our work as side by side, walking together on the healing journey. I can and will guide, suggest, provide feedback, etc., but ultimately you still have agency and are empowered in the direction of your own healing. I specialize in anxiety and ADHD. I have training in EMDR, complex trauma and dissociative disorders, because I have found that trauma underlies a lot of anxiety, and ADHD can be an overlooked contributor to anxiety. While these topics can be heavy and serious, sharing laughs is also something that happens in sessions. Without a sense of humor, things would be very boring.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person has a light within him/her/them that is unique, authentic, and deserves to shine. The world tries to dim our light in different ways as we move through space and time. A lot of us have to pretend, alter, or camouflage our true nature to feel safer. I believe we all deserve to feel like we can shine where we are, as we are, if we want. I believe in respect. I believe in equality and social justice. I believe that life is always the journey and never the destination (we circle the sun every year, there's no beginning or end except the start and end of seasons). I believe I am never finished learning; no one can ever know everything I believe in helping today's adults work on emotional intelligence and emotional maturity so that we can positively influence the next generation(s) with those skills and more. I also believe in your right to find a way to be authentically who you are, where you are.
