About My Clients
Over the last five years I have worked with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, shame, self-harm, suicidal ideation, interpersonal relationships, past trauma, recent trauma, and those who are exploring sexuality and gender identities. I have practiced in a variety of settings and previous clients of mine have had a very wide range of ages, mental health symptoms, identities, life goals, trauma histories, cultural backgrounds, neurodiversities, and lived experiences.
My Background and Approach
When engaging in therapeutic work I promise to show up with curiosity, respect, a willingness to learn, and with the understanding that you are the expert in your own life. When we are in session together, we are a team. It is through the connection we make that I can help you identify your goals for therapy and how to work towards attaining them. My practice is influenced by Jungian Psychology, Humanistic Theory, Trauma-Informed Care, and the teachings of bell hooks. I utilize a variety of evidence based treatment modalities depending on my client's needs, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Present Moment Awareness.
Why I am a Good Fit for You
I like to acknowledge that there are many stressors in the world that exist outside of our control, and I think it's important to address that sometimes therapy is a tool that can help us find things like joy, warmth, self-love, humor, and fun amidst a world where certain realities are appropriately met with feelings of anger, fear, worry, grief, and pain. I believe that all emotions give us important information about the world, our needs, our values, and ourselves. Part of my work with you will be to help you find a balance of emotional experiences that honor your truth and leave space for pleasant emotions to exist as well.
