About My Clients
You find yourself wondering how it is possible to be in a relationship and feel so alone. No matter how hard you try to connect with your partner, the two of you just seem to keep missing each other. You miss the fun the two of you used to have, you miss the times when the two of you used to talk so easily. Working with a trained couples therapist can help you to get back on track with your relationship. It is possible to heal, grow and have fulfilling relationships.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in working with women and couples. I received my master's degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, and have a masters in education from UC Santa Cruz. I have completed level 3 of Gottman couples therapy and I have additional training in supporting couples recovering from an affair, trauma, and navigating the challenges of having a new baby. I primarily practice what is called Evidence Based Therapies. You may have heard of a few: CBT or Cognitive Behavior Therapy, DBT or Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the Gottman method. I invite my client's to be a collaborative participant in therapy. This means that we work together to create goals that are meaningful to you and relevant to your unique situation. I believe that therapy is most effective when you are working towards the things that matter most to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe having strong, healthy relationships are an important factor in having a happy, healthy life. I believe that everyone deserves to feel comfortable with who they are, experience happiness, and to truly own, accept, and be who they are without shame or judgement. I believe life is best lived when we are able to be our most authentic self and this starts with learning who we are, learning who we want to be in the world, and finding the courage and support to express and be this person without apology. I believe everyone is capable of achieving their version of "best self" and I enjoy helping my client's to define for themselves what that looks like and how to get there. I identify as a feminist and am passionate about educating others on the role of feminism in motherhood. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and am a huge Giant's fan. I'm married and I have a grown daughter who is also passionate about human and women's rights.
