About My Clients
Are you a working parent trying to balance it all? An anxious teenager juggling school and a social life? Has something traumatic happened to you, and you're struggling to cope? Are you feeling anxious or depressed? I'm here and ready to help! I specialize in working with parents, adolescents, and other individuals dealing with life transitions (e.g. adjustment to college and young adulthood, career change, perinatal or post-partum issues, and menopause).
My Background and Approach
I take a personalized, integrative, and empathetic approach to therapy. This means that my approach for our sessions isn't going to be the same as my approach to a session with someone else. No two people are the same, so why should their therapy be the same? I have experience using a variety of modalities such as CBT, DBT, and ACT and I like to take an integrative approach, meaning I like to use a combination of methods that are best suited for my clients' individual needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Throughout my training I have worked in diverse clinical settings, including community mental health agencies, an inpatient hospital, outpatient clinics, schools, and private practice. I also have a strong research background, having co-authored several articles in academic journals as well as my master’s thesis and dissertation. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and 9-year-old daughter Abigail. Abby was born twelve weeks before I started graduate school, so I know too well the challenges of raising a child while managing a demanding profession!
