About My Clients
Are you seeking to better understand yourself? Are you looking to heal old wounds or past trauma? Are you ready to unlearn the stories that you have been telling yourself? You don't have to do it alone. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're seeking a new beginning, I am here to help you move beyond feeling stuck.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. My practice, Heart Root Counseling, offers individual talk therapy, trauma therapy and nature based therapy. I take a psychodynamic approach in working with clients with a focus on holistic healing. Pulling from my training in trauma informed yoga, I incorporate mindfulness strategies and journal prompts into therapy sessions. I enjoy helping clients integrate these practices into daily life. I work from an intersectional feminist perspective with a deep understanding of the issues that impact women and the queer community. I focus on helping folks navigate life transitions, stress and anxiety, complicated relationships and family dynamics, disordered eating habits and body image. I see adolescents (15+) as well as college students, young adults, creatives and helping professionals. I see clients in my Croton-on-Hudson office, online, and outdoors for those interested in exploring the benefits of ecotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has a unique story to tell and that telling our stories can be a powerful form of healing. I believe that everyone is capable of change. That said, we cannot change anything without first accepting things as they are - including ourselves! I am an advocate for self compassion and passionate about helping clients make peace with themselves. I believe that it is possible to unlearn the ways in which we were conditioned; to create new narratives and patterns of behavior; and to release the mechanisms that we developed while in survival mode. No matter how stuck you may feel, I believe that, together, we can develop the tools required for you to live your best life. I work very collaboratively with my clients, valuing transparency and authenticity within the therapeutic relationship. I am a Health at Every Size (HAES®) aligned, anti-diet culture and LGBTQ+ affirming provider.
