About My Clients
I work with clients who have a range of marginalized experiences & identities--LGBTQIA, BIPOC, immigrants & children of immigrants, sex workers, polyamorous & kink communities, neurodiverse & disabled folks. My clients usually come in wanting to work on anxiety, depression, dissociation, life transitions, gender transitions, suicidal ideation, abuse & trauma, domestic & partner violence and more.
My Background and Approach
I have almost a decade of serving folks who have gone through domestic or partner violence. The majority of my work has been community-based with a diverse range of clients, including all the ones named above. My approach is relational, person-centered, anti-oppressive, collaborative, humorous and non-judgmental. My goal is to create a safe enough space where you can begin your healing process and to support you in finding the tools and techniques that will work for you. I offer telehealth, walk and talk therapy in Malden, and in-person in Cambridge on Tuesdays. I utilize assessment tools, mindfulness & meditation, reflection, intentional journaling, grounding skills and I offer images and visuals that helps us get through to the roots of your experience & symptoms. I welcome all forms of creativity to the space!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that oppression is at the root of all suffering in the world, including mental health suffering. This is the lens through which I approach my work and love exploring this with folks. (Where is power showing up? What are the systems impacting your experience?) There is a power dynamic in the therapeutic relationship that inherently puts the therapist at the top; in my work, I attempt to level this hierarchy wherever possible. Similarly, I also know that therapy was developed within the systems of white supremacy and capitalism, and thus, so are many of our modalities and frameworks. Part of my work is to continuously sort through these parts of my training and hold onto the parts that work while letting go of those that do not. I have a deep love for the earth, sustainability, food justice, my wife and my dog, Basqui, the sun, gardening, hiking & women's basketball. You might also find me at a Palestine rally or community actions!
