About My Clients
The lingering effects of trauma can show up in many forms. Perhaps you suffer symptoms of perfectionism, burnout, anxiety or depression. Or you find yourself repeatedly returning to unhealthy relationships with substances or people. Despite your very best efforts you relive the same patterns over and over. Our work together will offer a slow, gentle narrative- and body-focused approach to understanding these patterns and discovering a softer, easier way.
My Background and Approach
I believe therapy works best when it is done holistically and incorporates both relational connection as well as somatic approaches. My practice is rooted in Psychodynamic Therapy, Attachment Theory and Polyvagal Theory. This means we will freely explore both the mind and the body in our sessions (as well as your relationships of origin) to gain a deeper understanding of the ways the stories of your past might be influencing your present state of mind, emotions, and relationships. Sessions include a mix of talk therapy combined with strategies for soothing the nervous system.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While our work together is primarily focused on your suffering and well-being, I do not believe therapy is a tool merely for individual healing. By connecting to the story of yourself, you are also tapping into the collective and interconnected stories of generations both past and present. You are doing the inner individual work required to promote a healthier, more balanced society. That, to me, is the most powerful and profound change one can make. I believe we all hold the power to grow as humans and make changes for the greater good of ourselves and society. The key to this growth lies in our curiosity and willingness to become more self-aware. If you are here that means you are curious. This is a good first sign that you are ready. And curiosity is all I ask of you.
