About My Clients

Do you worry often about what others think of you? Does your mind automatically jump to the worst-case scenario? Do you find it hard to disrupt thought spirals, or feel compelled to do certain behaviors? Do you experience panic attacks, or feel your world shrinking due to fear and uncertainty? These are some of the deeply distressing symptoms of anxiety. The good news is there is help available. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, and want to show you how to reclaim control of your life.

My Background and Approach

I am a CBT-trained therapist who specializes in treating anxiety disorders such as OCD, social anxiety, specific phobias, generalized anxiety, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (skin picking, hair pulling). During treatment, you will learn the skills to challenge distorted thinking, tolerate uncertainty, improve relationships, and pursue values-based goals and activities. Often anxiety can be linked to complex experiences, which is why I also make space to explore and process identity-based concerns, relational stressors, and trauma. I'm formally trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. I draw intentionally from each of these approaches depending on each client's unique needs. My goal is to meet you where you're at, while empowering you to be vulnerable and self-directed so that you can navigate life's unknowns with confidence and self-compassion.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that therapy can be an incredibly powerful tool in which you can safely explore your past, come into meaningful contact with the present, and ultimately set yourself on a better path for the future. A cornerstone of my work is respecting the balance of acceptance versus change. You might naturally lean toward one or the other when it comes to managing the problems in your life. Until I became a therapist, I was always a Changer. I wanted to do something to fix how I was feeling. I chased plenty of solutions, but still struggled to feel better. Through my own therapy, I discovered that there is just as much strength and wisdom in slowing down and learning how to accept what is (even when I dislike it or disagree with it). The longer I do this work, the more I believe that humans really do need to understand how to use both acceptance and change in order to cope effectively.
