About My Clients
I may be a good fit for you if you want to better understand how your unconscious experiences are influencing your day-to-day life. Through mindfulness practices (non-judgmental observation of self) and somatic awareness (mind-body connection), we discover and work through internal conflicts that may be influencing patterns in your life. I support you in untangling codependent dynamics, and experiencing greater authenticity and clarity within your relationships.
My Background and Approach
I believe we all have the potential for growth by better understanding both the known and unknown parts of ourselves, and how these influence our sense of self-awareness, choice, and authenticity. I enjoy helping people connect with what lights them up, and bringing curiosity and playfulness into the self-exploration process. I am passionate about building healthy interpersonal relationships, and supporting a shift from codependency to personal empowerment. I utilize mindfulness and the mind-body connection in my approach, with the framework that the body often stores our past wounding and unconscious experiences. I draw from techniques in somatic therapy, Gestalt, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Nonviolent Communication, existential therapy, Buddhist psychology, Internal Family Systems, Jungian psychology (e.g. "shadow work"), motivational interviewing, transpersonal psychology.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach is informed by social justice. I believe that the systems of which we are a part necessarily influence our opportunities, choices, and mental wellbeing. I welcome conversations about your identities, experiences of privilege and/or oppression, and how any similarities or differences between us regarding our identities may affect your experience of power in the therapy room.
