Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indianapolis, IN

About My Clients

My areas of expertise are working with those who are struggling with substance use, emerging adults (what some might describe as "failure to launch"), folks struggling with anxiety, and overwhelmed parents. I also very much enjoy working with folks in healthcare and law, highly-trained professionals who are skilled in assisting others and problem-solving on a daily basis yet may struggle to take care of themselves, prevent burnout, or ask for help.

My Background and Approach

I welcome questions about my experience, education, and how I might approach your particular challenges. Although I draw upon a number of orientations depending on client needs, my primary approaches are Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Based Therapy. These approaches incorporate values, mindfulness, and somatics (relating to the body). I teach and train in both of these approaches and welcome questions about them! I am a social worker first and think systemically. I will encourage you to place your experience in wider contexts and recognize that sometimes it is the world that needs changing, not you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Some of the most important values I hold in my work (and life) are: (1) autonomy: you are an independent person and I will respect what you decide. (2) bodily autonomy: your body is your own, and I believe and respect that only you get to make decisions about it. (3) safety: EVERYONE is welcome and safe in my practice. (4) radical respect: no matter your beliefs, struggles, actions, or history, you are deserving of being treated like a full human and with acceptance, warmth and respect. (5) cultural humility: I only know my experience but I am curious about yours and the identities you hold. I will work to share and shift power both in the relationship and systemically. (6) knowledge and research: I am open to nearly all forms of healing and it is an ethical necessity for me to lean on the knowledge base that researchers have established regarding mental health, neuroscience, therapy, treatment, and related research.
