About My Clients

Have you looked at yourself in the mirror and not recognize the person looking back at you? Do you ever wonder how you went from 0-60? Do you do things in the moment—yell, scream, shut down, pretend like you don’t care—and wish you could take it back? If you are filled with anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, mistrust, and negativity, it will inevitably seep into your relationships with those you love. These parts of us tend to push others away, even though what we most desire is peace & connection.

My Background and Approach

The truth is that there is a reason why we are the way we are. We all have experienced painful moments in our lives that lead us to say, “I don’t' ever want to feel this way again.” So overtime, walls are built & defense mechanisms are put into place to protect yourself. These are normal responses to pain & it’s okay to want to protect yourself. But problems arise when we carry those burdens inside of us for too long. Together, we can work towards releasing some of the burdens you carry, gain a better understanding of yourself and your needs, and create an inner compass that will help guide you through life. This compass will be unique to you, it is the essence of you, and once you have it, no one can take it away. With this compass you will have the power within you to grow, transform, and thrive. I will be there with you every step of the way and cheer you on as you achieve your goals in becoming the person, mother, father, child, sibling, partner, and friend you want to be.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I incorporate my personality into my practice. I’ve been to therapists who were robotic and would say things like, “This isn’t about me, this is about you”, when I would try to get to know them. It felt weird to share personal things to a stranger. I don’t want to be a stranger to you. I’m open about my flaws and mistakes if you ask because after all, no one is perfect. I have cheered clients on for their successes, cried with them in moments of grief and sadness, and laughed and joked together about this strange thing we call life. I will be honest and forthcoming with you so you won’t have to guess what I’m “really” thinking—that’s because I see us as a team. In terms of therapeutic approaches, I use Strength-Based Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Culturally Sensitive Therapy (I was born and raised in Japan), and skills-based therapy such as CBT and DBT. I have a variety of modalities because I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy
