About My Clients
I specialize in working with mood disorders & trauma. Trauma is any experience that has overwhelmed your ability to cope and has impacted how you now perceive yourself and the world around you. I believe that we can work together to heal and grow past previous experiences so that you can be the best version of yourself. I also have experience working with other therapists At this time, I am only accepting clients for Telehealth, I take Private Pay and Premera Insurance
My Background and Approach
My background is in social work which means that I also look to understand you as a whole and what factors have brought you to this moment. Understanding history and environment can help identify patterns, themes, solutions for best approaches in order to heal. As a Latina myself with parents of two different cultures, I am sensitive to each individuals cultural background and how it can impact the course of therapy and approaches. I use a variety of clinical approaches, but have been trained and specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting (BSP). In addition I often use Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Psycho-education and somatic approaches. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Yoga Teacher (YTT200). Over the years and experience I've seen how deep healing and growth happens when we can process and heal those earlier moments in life that have imprinted our body's nervous system and our cognitive beliefs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy looks different for each individual that walks in the door, that is the beauty of working with different people. I enjoy thinking outside the box and think it is important to meet people where they are. Through my years in the mental health field and a yoga teacher (and through my own practice) I have observed how we each have this body for the rest of our life, yet we spend so much time trying to not be in it or feel. My approach also looks to make the connection between our body and mind so, that we can feel safe being present and aware in our body. As a therapist, I also believe in the importance to have tried the different approaches I offer to my own clients. I continue to enjoy learning and take trainings regularly to stay up to date with current topics and approaches I was born and raised in Costa Rica and I am bilingual, I enjoy being outside in nature and hiking, I have dog you will eventually hear bark, and I practice and teach yoga in my spare time.
