About My Clients
This fast-paced world is weighing you down, and you feel like you can't keep up. You're drowning in a sea of self-help advice and you don't understand why none of it works for you. The influx of mental wellness trends are overwhelming and exhausting to follow. Your well-meaning rituals fade, making you feel incompatible with the people around you. The hectic demands of daily living are impossible to meet. The voice in your head keeps screaming, "Why can't I breathe?"
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical and Mental Health Counselor Associate, with a Masters in Counseling from NC State. I was a school counselor prior to working in private practice and found fulfillment in supporting educating staff through high rates of burnout and secondary trauma. Now that I work in private practice, I enjoy focusing on one client and one need at a time. I would be honored to guide you through this journey by working with your whole self, using person-centered therapy and somatic techniques – connecting the body and mind. We will spend time meeting your specific needs by identifying themes and patterns in family history, visiting your inner child, reframing harmful thoughts, and affirming your identity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer, neurodivergent vegetarian with a passion for supporting individuals recovering from trauma. I am an adoptive mom and advocate for systemic change in the foster care system. I center my work - personally and professionally - in radical authenticity, Health At Every Size (HAES), and unconditional positive regard. I strive to root my thoughts and behaviors in anti-racism, and I am grateful for the privilege to learn from the community around me. I am affirming of diverse sexual expression, including poly and kink.
