About My Clients
I work with adults & couples from various communities who feel stuck, would like to learn new coping skills, heal & grow. While navigating relationship issues, life transitions or trying to understand why you are in pain it is healing to be seen, heard & accepted. I strive to create this in our work while helping you to connect with & understand parts of yourself you may have kept hidden. Areas also include improving communication, learning to process emotions & reactivity, boundaries & ADHD.
My Background and Approach
I am a warm, straight forward & occasionally a funny therapist who will ask you lots of questions to help you find your own authentic answers. I speak plainly & provide a non-judgmental, safe environment where we can explore what's going on in your world at your pace using traditional talk therapy & or EMDR. I use an eclectic approach drawing on multiple theoretical orientations in order to tailor the most effective treatment for you. I find importance in childhood wounds that affect our present day & I will help you reframe perspectives which may have been formed through a wounded filter so you can look at things in a way which serve you better. Therapy can help develop a compassionate understanding of yourself, break repetitive destructive patterns and create better connections with ourselves and others. I am interested in learning about you and your story while you learn about you and your story.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Boundaries are good for everyone. It might feel very uncomfortable to establish boundaries, you may not even know you are entitled to have them or fear being abandoned if you did. We can work on that. The body is innately designed to propel itself towards health like it does when healing a cut on the skin or getting better from a cold. The same is true for our brain & our mental health. We are designed to heal. When a trauma occurs it seems to get locked in the brain like a splinter in the skin preventing healthy processing (healing) and ultimately affecting our perspectives our choices and our lives. I have found talk therapy and EMDR can help to heal emotional and mental wounds.
