About My Clients
I specialize in working with individuals, especially children, adolescents, and young adults, to navigate the challenges of depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, trauma, disordered eating, and self-esteem. I have a particular passion for serving the LGBTQIA+ community, and work from a queer- and gender- affirming approach embracing identity and sexuality exploration.
My Background and Approach
My background teaching performing arts, as well as my formal clinical training in school, college campus, and mental health clinic settings informs my unique therapeutic approach. My style is collaborative, creative, supportive, and empathetic, and together we'll work in tandem to co-construct safety in the therapy space, identify goals, navigate challenges, and embrace self-compassion to unearth your strengths and reconnect with your truest, most authentic self. My extensive training in a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, and Creative Arts Therapy, allows me to tailor my therapeutic approach to your unique goals and needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that by cultivating an environment of empathy, non-judgement, and compassionate curiosity, all clients may leave each session feeling valued, heard, and deeply understood. Please contact me to set up a complimentary phone consultation via email, phone, or calendly.com/rachel-kurland.
