About My Clients
I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA community, teens & young adults, and creative people looking to find deep inner healing. My areas of focus include: sexuality and gender, identity exploration, relationship issues, self-esteem & body image, life transitions, and alternative relationships. I also have background in exploring trauma, grief and loss, family conflict, and exploring career goals or college transition.
My Approach to Helping
My approach is client-centered, empathetic, and focused on connection. You’re the expert on yourself and you deserve to explore what you’re looking for with someone who believes in you. My background in couples & family therapy allows me to use a systemic lens while hearing your story, and my style has been described as creative, conversational, and gentle when needed. Working with teens & young adults is a passion of mine, as that’s a crucial part of our lives where we’re figuring so much out about ourselves and who we want to be. I also love working with clients who are new to therapy, have had negative experiences with therapy in the past, or come from a background where mental health was stigmatized. I want you to see that therapy doesn’t have to be the ‘traditional’ blank-slate, impersonal experience that we’re told to expect, but a deeply human experience where you can start finding yourself.
My Values as a Therapist
As a queer & nonbinary therapist, I love working with other queer or nonbinary clients who want a therapist in their community—as well as bisexual/pansexual, asexual, polyamorous, non-monogamous, kinky, and fat folx seeking a place where they are not just welcome but seen for who they are. Geek culture is also a place where I’m fluent and welcome it into the therapy space. RPGs, video games, comics, books, and other media can open up new opportunities for us to express ourselves. We can learn so much from the fandoms and media we enjoy, and they often connect us to the communities we never knew we needed until we found them.
