My Background and Approach
I offer the best aspects of conventional, alternative & integrative psych and wellness care to help you achieve optimal mental health and well-being. Prescription psychiatric medications are used and integrated with natural alternatives, based on your preferences. I emphasize positivity, self acceptance, and celebration of your uniqueness. Please note that I do not prescribe controlled substances, which includes stimulants for attention or benzodiazepines for anxiety/sleep. My style & methods are solution focused & progress oriented, with an emphasis on now & future forward. I offer mood support with psychiatric medications & treatment, and with natural, holistic & integrative methods. I'm triple board certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, a family practice nurse practitioner and in holistic & integrative care and have been practicing since 2012. I have three masters degrees: MSN-Nursing, MA-Psychology & an MBA.
More About the People I Treat
Please note that what I do is not talk-therapy. It pairs very well with talk-therapy and also works nicely for people who don't want to do talk therapy. Evidence shows that people who do both, psychiatric treatment and talk therapy, typically have faster and longer lasting improvements in their mood and mental health overall. Integrative psychiatry involves the use of psychotropic medications, alternative treatments, optimizing nutrients & lifestyle changes to better support your mood and mental health overall. Supportive coaching and short term solution based therapy is involved and a part of my visits, but it's different than talk therapy (where you talk about your past experiences, daily life issues, etc.) Psychiatry visits are every few weeks at first, then monthly, then every 3 months, as you usually need visits less & less. If you look for people who have the credential after their name of MFT, PsyD, PhD, MSW, LPC - those are therapists who focus solely on "talk psychotherapy".
