About My Clients
My clients are people that seem just fine on the outside, but on the inside are struggling with anxiety & burnout. You could be feeling exhausted from working so hard and putting everyone else’s needs above your own. Or maybe you're suffering from a harsh inner critic that doesn’t let up no matter how much you accomplish. Basically something is in the way of you feeling as a sense of inner peace. If this resonates & you want remote therapy that is real, dynamic, & impactful we may be a good fit.
My Background and Approach
My clinical approach is informed by body-oriented or somatic psychotherapy. We are not just prefrontal cortexes that think. We have whole bodies that are experiencing this life with us. Our bodies experience trauma, grief, joy, & love. Our bodies are here to give us information & be a resource for us if we are open to sensing into its language. To engage the body in therapy, together we will explore sensation, affect, body movement, and gestures…along with what needs to be shared with words. Relational therapy also informs my work. I am particularly effective at supporting people in improving their relationship to themselves. As we are the person we're always with, our relationship with ourselves impacts every single aspect of our lives. In sessions with me, together we explore how you behave towards yourself, your internal narrative about yourself, and your feelings about yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Black woman who is a lesbian I have an embodied experience of sexism, racism, & homophobia. in addition to childhood trauma. I have dedicated my entire adult life to my own healing. My continual internal growth & healing is an asset to my clients. I can’t expect my clients to be with things I haven’t yet faced within myself. I am passionate about supporting people particularly with releasing messages of not enough-ness and creating new & accurate narratives of resilience, wisdom, & a right to be alive in our fullness. 1 of my favorite topics in healing work is self compassion. All of our ways of being, even the ways that don’t currently seem helpful, were once generative. In sessions with me, we will offer curiosity to whatever you’re going through. When we really understand that the ways we respond to life is part of what helped us survive hard things, self compassion becomes available to us. Self compassion is the first step to learning new ways of moving through life.
