About My Clients
My experience with clients tend to be adults between the ages of 18-65, across the racial, gender, and sexual orientation spectrum; I work with individuals, couples, and occasionally facilitate a DBT Skills Group. I hold space for those who’ve felt like outsiders—whether due to trauma, race, queerness, or a combination of underserved or historically excluded identities. As a queer, kinky, poly Black man, my own lived experience brings an extra layer of understanding to my work.
My Background and Approach
Starting therapy is a personal journey, and at its core, it’s all about a trusting, collaborative relationship. My first priority is getting to know each person—honoring their unique experiences, needs, and goals—because real change happens when you feel truly supported by someone who’s compassionate, real, and trustworthy. I’m especially passionate about working with folks exploring identity, navigating LGBTQIA+ experiences, or finding community in fetish/kink/leather spaces, polyamory, and other non-traditional relationships. I pull from DBT, EMDR, and motivational interviewing to tailor therapy to each person’s needs. My approach is warm, reflective, curious, and direct—creating a space where you can show up as your full, authentic self. Healing happens in connection, and I’m here to help foster that.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have also worked in the field of substance use since 2013. If there’s one perspective I’ve learned in this field: you don’t just “treat addiction,” you treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, loneliness, rage, despair, toxic secrets, regret, undiagnosed head trauma, untreated ADHD; then you realize substance use is often someone’s best attempt to cope when they don’t see other options. My therapy style is reflective, curious, warm, and attentive, and therapy thrives when clients bring more and more of their authentic selves to session. Meeting people where they are at with a judgment-free and authentic approach, I seek to create room for individuals and couples find new ways to achieve their goals and create insight into the challenges, barriers, and patterns of day-to-day living.
