CBT is rather simple - our thoughts leads to our feelings and our feelings lead to how we show up in the world. While it's sounds easy, it's actually quite difficult to process and master. In therapy, we will work towards understanding the very obvious and no-so-obivous thoughts that impact our emotions and subsequently impact our behaviors. By changing those thoughts, we can change the way we feel, which can have a positive effect on our lives and the lives of those around us.

Psychoanalysis gives us the chance to assess and process through the events in our lives the shape the way we look at the world, specifically events that have happened during our childhood and adolescent years. It takes time to unravel the yarn, but as we peel away the layers, we begin to get a better understanding of how strengths, our weaknesses and our defense mechanisms. Doing this provides the opportunity to change the way we show up and will have immediate effects on our personal lives.

Sometimes, we can't explain the bad things that happen, but we know that they have an effect on us. So often, trauma lives in our body. In trauma therapy, we will find ways to acknowledge the trauma that has happened, working to metabolize that bodily effects of the trauma, while developing new neuro-pathways to ease the effect of that trauma on our mind and heart.

Through my work with clients and my own experiences, I’ve gained insight into how anxiety manifests in different ways for everyone. It’s not a one-size-fits-all issue. Identifying your personal triggers is the first step to managing it. Once we know what’s driving your anxiety, we’ll work on addressing both the psychological and physiological factors, building coping skills to reduce or even eliminate symptoms over time.
