About My Clients
The primary population of clients I serve are victims and survivors of traumatic events, as well as those who have experience loss, or are going through life transitions, such as divorce or separation. As a result of these experiences, most of those I've worked with have struggled with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Adjustment Disorders.
My Background and Approach
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in NJ, I obtained my Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Through over 20 years of doing this work, I have learned everyone is different and requires different approaches to therapy. Therefore, I have developed an expansive approach to therapy, dedicating my service to reaching a diverse group of people. It is important to me that all of my clients feel seen, heard and represented. I do this through cultural humility, knowing I do not know everything about everyone. Instead, I am in a constant state of learning. What I do bring, however, is an expertise in supporting individuals in learning tools and coping skills to manage the impacts of trauma and grief. Some therapeutic approaches I have found to be effective with healing from trauma include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered therapy, and Strength-based therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am dedicated to social justice and believe it is up to each of us to promote an environment of social acceptance; recognizing there is power in our own unique differences. I participate in ongoing professional development to make sure I am always aware of best approaches to working with diverse populations; as well as facilitate trainings on topics such as Anti-Oppressive Advocacy, Advocating for Marginalized Populations, and the Role of Biases. I have dedicated 25 years of my life to working in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault. I find it a true honor to be able to support and witness human resilience as it propels the healing process. Additionally, as a mother a Marine daughter, I am passionate about supporting our military members and their families.
