About My Clients

The world is a bit nuts. And sometimes, it's not you; it's them. If it is you, perhaps it’s not the world but how you relate to it. Or maybe it’s a trauma that needs healing. Either way, that can be painful, as it leads to self-doubt, distraction, sadness, worry, stress, insomnia, feelings of loss, shame, and that you’re adrift. I've felt these feelings before and it's awful; you deserve contentment now. I have lots of tools to help with this, but mostly, I simply listen with compassion.

My Background and Approach

Before becoming a therapist I was a writer for 20 years; I still write professionally. I received my master of social work at the University of Denver and spent two years as a therapist at residential treatment centers and for a crisis hotline. I've been in outpatient therapist for going on two years (so in the field for four years now). My experience of career growth gives me a unique perspective in helping others with their own life transitions. I’m guided by the value of storytelling and how understanding our stories can help us find harmony, and I decided to get a Master of Social Work to help others while using my writing to explore the overlap between mental health, our cultural stories, and our relationship our environment. Although I have experience and training, I take Rick Rubin's advice and approach the work like a beginner to be more open and curious. I aim to create a calmness to foster exploration, acceptance, and healing so that you gain the tools to manage life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Your story about yourself has power. I believe our stories can change; I’ve seen it in my own life as well as in the lives of the people I've worked with. I believe we're all capable of change and that you can do this, too. I’m just a compassionate helper here to listen and challenge you with respect for your dignity and worth. I'll use mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia to help you sleep well. But before I do anything, I think it's important to build trust, which I do through hearing your story. Want to learn more? Reach out!
