About My Clients
In regard to therapy, have you ever heard it said that "it doesn't work" or that "it is for the weak"? I, too, have heard these comments, and I believe they are harmful and do a disservice to those of us who are flawed, emotional, and complex human beings (which is, of course, all of us). Therapy can, and does, work, when there is commitment and a strong and appropriate therapeutic alliance between client and therapist. I look forward to assisting you on your journey to a better you.
My Background and Approach
I hold a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). This allows me to have a diverse skill set. I work with individuals aged 13+, I connect with people from all walks of life, and I am able to empathize with almost anyone who enters my office. I specialize in substance abuse disorders/addiction, mental health concerns, and day-to-day life stressors. I have professional experience treating a variety of conditions, including (but not limited to) trauma, ADHD, grief, challenging relationship dynamics, and disordered eating. I meet clients wherever they are in life, and I believe them to be the experts of their own lives. I provide a warm, safe space that is compassionate, appropriately challenging, and with an element of humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While I identify as a heterosexual woman, I am allied with the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide culturally sensitive counseling to individuals from diverse backgrounds. My religious background is based in Christianity; however, religion will only be incorporated into therapy if the client introduces it. I advocate for people who find themselves in challenging positions, such as a domestic violence situation or a suicidality mindset. I believe everyone who enters my office is unique, and therapy will be tailored to the individual.
