About My Clients
As partners, we can find solutions that work for you. I offer each of my clients a safe space to explore their feelings and examine their lives. If you wish, this can include exploring tools and strategies to help you overcome difficult thought patterns and introduce new perspectives to alleviate pressures you may be facing. Our relationship will always include my sincere respect for your self-determination and the intrinsic knowledge you have of your own life.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in supporting individuals of all ages with life transitions. At times, these transitions may cause varying levels of anxiety, depression, or family conflict that we can work through together using a strengths-based approach. The modalities I use include dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), culturally sensitive cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solution-focused principles. I also use relational, attachment, and existential theories. However, the most powerful tool we will use in working together will be the safe space we create. As a former higher education professional, I have a wealth of experience working with young adults, and the unique challenges that they face. I am also a former school worker and have had a myriad of experiences with people of all ages. Let's work together to create the life that you want. I look forward to working with you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prioritizing my own mental health, learning to deal with difficult emotions, and living in alignment with my own values revolutionized my life. As a therapist, my passion for the field comes from my own experiences and the transformative progress I see in my clients. My experience as a school social worker, college advisor, and now as a licensed social worker/therapist for clients of all ages which has given me a unique perspective into the life cycle and issues that can be faced at every level. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for ten years in higher education as an Academic Advisor and Adjunct Professor. Developing relationships with students, and coming to understand their mental health needs inspired me to pursue my Master’s in Social Work at the Jane Addams College of Social Work. In my spare time, I enjoy to spending time with the people I love, dancing, reading, and taking life one breautiful day at a time.
