About My Clients

I tend to work with folks who are curious about themselves, others, and the human condition in general. My clients often come to therapy recognizing that they have endured relational and/or societal trauma and knowing how it impacts them. However, they feel unsure of how to reckon with, heal, and integrate their traumatic experiences. My clients are ready to live more expansively, have more balanced relationships, and feel more grounded in their daily life but need support to get there.

My Background and Approach

I approach therapy as a dynamic, creative and collaborative process. I believe that effective therapy balances the past and present. Understanding the past can reveal invisible patterns, reduce shame, and help us connect with parts of ourselves we have discarded. Empowered with this knowledge, we can explore our values in the present, developing skills that help us both cope with our life as it is and create the life we want. My work is informed by critical feminist, queer, disability and race theory. Exploration of identity, power, and intersectional cultural contexts is an essential part of my practice. I welcome questions and feedback from my clients. I utilize attachment and systems-based orientations in conjunction with Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients heal from trauma, build and maintain meaningful relationships, and experience their lives more fully. I specialize in: supporting neurodiverse clients, trauma, borderline personality disorder, and couples/families.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in a liberation-minded approach to therapy. That means, I deeply honor you as the expert in and director of your own life. I will not over-pathologize your reasonable reactions to an unjust society or expect you to teach me about the structural harm you endure. Instead, I will actively educate myself on complex lived experiences outside my own and partner with you to work toward change while finding ways to thrive within the world as it is. I also believe that anti-racist, queer-affirming therapy requires the therapist to bring their authentic, vulnerable selves to each session. I am a white, queer, hetero-presenting, neurodivergent, cis-woman from a working-class background- I recognize that my identity matters. I will be mindful, transparent and humble about how my lived experiences influence my perspective. As a former special educator, I also feel strongly about disability justice.
