About My Clients
I am passionate about understanding people from an intersectional approach and how it shapes are experiences, relationships, and of course mental health. I offer support for the following experiences/identities: LGBTQIA2S+ adults, Gender affirming care, BIPOC/API/AAPI Identity, Immigrant experiences, Neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, Autism, etc.), Disability and chronic illness, Grief and loss, Therapy for therapists, Multiracial/multicultural identities and challenges, Trauma/CPTSD/EMDR
My Background and Approach
The fundamentals of how I approach therapy derive from a social justice, multicultural, feminist, and anti-oppression lens. I also utilize and have had experience while working at Whole Valley Therapy of learning more about Functional Analytical Psychotherapy (FAP). Though I do incorporate other evidence-based modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-CBT, Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy-IFS, Dialectical Behavior Therapy-DBT, EMDR, etc.), I am constantly questioning/holding healthy skepticism of where these modalities derive from, and how they impact certain individuals based on their identities. The western world has heavily influenced psychotherapy, which means that certain roots of therapy will not always resonate with folx who hold historically oppressed identities; I feel it is important to hold awareness of these roots in the modern therapeutic space to advocate that there is not a "right" way to be human.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am strongly rooted in a relational approach, where the relationship within the therapeutic setting is a core focus in the support I provide. I am passionate in supporting folx who are seeking to understand their deep pain, and find liberation within the self, while also building better connections/relationships with the people around them; to help people have an understanding of the systems of oppression that have impacted who they believe they are, and how to de-pathologize the self. For supervision/consultation, though I offer modalities/resources/suggestions on things that come up, my priority is to help support you in leaning into your intuition as a therapist, and harness what it means for you to hold this identity and be in this role. The goal is to support you in rehumanizing yourself, to help in guiding others to rehumanize themselves from a decolonized lens.
