Shayne has experience with a diverse populations. She has specialized in individuals currently in transition (emerging adulthood, pre-marital counseling, and transition to civilian life/Veteran life). Shayne has specialized in a compassionate lenses for those struggling with suicidal ideation, survivors of suicide loss, non-suicidal self-injury, and personality disorders. Shayne takes an eclectic approach to couple's counseling to address the couple's specific needs and concerns.
My Background and Approach
Shayne's approach is an eclectic application of Dialectical Behavior Therapy with influences from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Feminist Theory, and Positive Psychology. She believes clients are the experts on their lives and strives to provide an empathetic environment to process life’s difficult moments. Her personable and enthusiastic nature creates a solid therapeutic alliance. The safe space is built with the rapport developed to make positive change. Shayne has previously worked with diverse populations, such as adults, adolescents, Veterans, groups, the justice-involved population, and couples. She is experienced working with adults and adolescents experiencing suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, interpersonal issues, and transitional stress. Shayne has experience utilizing a strength-based approach and teaching skills to aid in change. She is passionate about equity and compassion within the counseling space.
